This is a brand new yarn from Sublime for spring/summer 2008 and, as its name suggests, is entirely natural and untreated, having been grown organically without the use of pesticides in India and gently dyed using environmentally friendly products in Germany. However, if you are usually scared off by the invariably high prices of organic products, this yarn provides excellent value for money. It is a soft cotton with a matt finish and it knits up evenly with good, clear stitch definition. The yarn is available in a range of eight gorgeously subtle colours from a rich cream to a soft, chalky blue and the sample shown is shade 0091. Pattern support is available in the new Sublime book 611 (RRP £4.11), which is packed with relaxed shapes and interesting textures, creating a feel of understated elegance, including patterns for babies, children, men and women. With a tension of 22 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm, it will knit to most standard double knit patterns. Organic Cotton DK can be machine washed on a gentle cycle.
