![]() Topic: Innocent Smoothie's "Big Knit"Posted: 25 Sep 2007 at 9:54am |

I've been e-mailed this link with information about Innocent Smoothie's "The Big Knit," so I thought I'd post it here for you folks to take a look at and get involved if you're interested!
"Hello. We’re asking lots of people to knit lots of little hats for our smoothie bottles. These behatted bottles will then go into Sainsbury’s in November and for every one sold innocent and Sainsbury’s will give 50p to Age Concern.
Why you ask? Well it’s simple. Almost 25,000 older people died of cold related illnesses last winter, so it’s important for us to do our bit. Age Concern will use the money raised to provide support to older people in winter including hot meals, blankets and advice on how to keep their houses warm. In 2006 we managed to raise £115,000 by knitting 230,000 hats. This year we are dreaming about what £200,000 could do. We’d also quite like to pile up 400,000 hats to see what it looks like." Click here for more information about how you can get involved. Edited by admin - 25 Sep 2007 at 9:54am |

Hi All,
Me and my mum have always enjoyed taking part in contributing the Innocent Smoothies Big Knit. If anyone else out there enjoys knitting the little hats and was wondering then I have been told they will be going ahead with the Big Knit again in 2010. They are aiming for a whopping 800,000 hats! |

Hi,
As I live in Australia by the time I make them and then post them, I could send you the money instead. Would that be acceptable? If you could post an address I will post you a donation. Knit in peace and harmony. Rose in Melbourne, Australia. |

I don't work for Innocent Smoothies so I do not know the answer to your question. If you would like to help them by making a donation instead you can always email them. The email address posted on their website is thebigknit@innocentdrinks.co.uk. I ask quite early every year if they are going to be running it again so I can start knitting and have always replied to me quite quickly.
