Hi you lovely people,

The first knitting forum I ever went on was Knitters Review and I always signed off with Knit in Peace and Harmony, but it was a tad on the bitchy side for me, so after a year or so I stopped writing, nobody missed me, although I have made a few good friends who still write to me.

As I said before I am far to unorganised to keep a diary with wool and what I'm going to make, I should though.

I should keep a diary of all the things I make and take photos of them, my daughter has got a really good camera, thanks to me and Daddy who bought it for her for Christmas, its the third one, she broke the other two.

She also lost her Ipod, I think this too is the third one, so now madam wants an Ipod for her birthday and in her words "not a crappy one, the most up to date one".

She will be 18 and is in her last year of school, I don't know what she wants to do after wards, it changes from day to day, one day its traveling, the next she wants to go to TAFE and then its Art School, so God only knows what she'll end up doing.

At 56 I must be the oldest person ever to hold a Learner's Permit, I am having driving lessons so I will be able to drive the car, as my husband is pretty sick, he is in end stage renal failure and also has leukemia amongst over things.

It would be good if I could find some other people in Australia, especially around Melbourne.

British people are so much nicer than Americans, although I suppose thats a bit of a generalisation, but I find them more like Aussies.

Hi Jenny,

I remember puppy training well,my boy is now 9yrs old and sits at my feet all day, wherever I go he goes as well. You will really enjoy having a dog, they are so rewarding.

I knit for up to 2 hrs a day, as long as it takes to knit a 50g ball is my rule of thumb. That way a 10 ball item is finished in 10 days, if it goes on too long I lose interest and start other things.

I don't keep a diary but each season I compile a wish list and keep it with me at all times as I never pay full price for yarns. If I see a reduction for something I am interested in then I always have the information to hand.I regularly trawl web sites for offers as well. At home I organise my knitting by yarn weight. I have a cupboard that is divided into drawers, one for dk, one for aran, one for chunky and one for oddments. Each pack is cross referenced with pattern ideas, I note the book and page numbers of patterns suitable for each purchase. If I ever feel down I have a rummage and it always cheers me up.

Unfortunately I don't have any knitting quotes. All I can say is if it makes you happy do it everyday!!

Best Wishes
Midge.

Hi Midge,

Wow you are organised, me I just see something I like, buy it and then probably knit one ball, realise it doesn't look like I thought it would and put it in the back of the cupboard.

I am going to try and take a note out of your book and do what your doing.

Although once I did buy 10 balls of Angora for $10 that was my best buy of all time and I made bed socks for everybody.

    Hi ya Midge

Im with Rose (Ozyknitter) on the plan to try and organise my craft bits/time management. Thankyou for getting back to me. I still havent managed any time yet to knit. I really should 'schedule' it into my day and then make it routine. I love the way you set urself a kind of time limit and how much yarn you want to use in 1 sitting.

Im just hanging in there with Sheena. I know that as soon as all the hard work has been done then it won't seem so shattering lol. I was saying to my partner that some people have a young baby and a puppy! Are they mad!

I find when I knit that my mind totally clears of all the domestic/£/mundane stuff as i'm concentrating on what my hands are doing. Does any1 else have the feeling, or do they have a different kind of experience?

Hi,

I think that's what I will do as well, aim to knit one ball of wool a day, a 50g ball, I don't want to go over the top.

    Hi ozyknitter + midge

Hope u are all okay? Bin drowning in puppy pee, lol. Should change her name to 'puddles' cos she leaves alot of them around. Always worse when my partner around. Having too much fun with dad, ignoring the fact she needs to go for a wee and piddling all the way to the kitchen.

Still haven't had time to knit as with Sheena and the housework its ni on impossible. At least I've got some peace and quiet because my 2 girls are at their dads til Sunday.

Would still like to hear from some more newbies as I've seen quite a few new members joining. So if you are having a quick look thru the forum and web site, please say hi

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi,

Poor you a piddling puppy, we have a humping Lhasa Apso, he is even going after the cats.

Mark my husband says we shouldn't get him speyed because he is a show dog, but to use him as a sire costs so much money and he really is just a pet, if we put him in the ring, he would probably hump the judge's leg.

I think I will have to get it done and if he notices I will say they must have fallen off or something!!!

I have been trying to get as many baby clothes knitted before my sister goes to South Wales as that is where they are destined for, its not looking good at the moment though.

Lovely to hear from you.

    Hi ya Rose

The piddling is always worse when shes excited, then I think that when shes on the kitchen with me that she does it on purpose lol. She might squat 20cm away and then go on the paper after to get her 'good girl' and lots of fuss. Her behaviour at the mo is v 'challenging'. Lot of biting and answering back when shes told off. Her answering back is snapping at you.

What is it with men if you have a dog neutered they show a painful expression, but if its a female dog they don't bat an eye lid? The op is far more complicated for a female dog than just a dog. Please ask him, dying to know what sort of answer he comes up with lol.

My daughters are due home today, my partner collecting them as I type this. So, this evening I AM GOING TO KNIT. So they will be on piddle control, they don't know it yet lol. Lots of life things getting in the way, so I really need to tune everything out.

So how many baby items have you knitted? What sort of garments have you done already? Colours, different patts etc? Have you tried learning to crochet yet? Crocheting is on my to do list for my craft, but don't have a clue who to ask for help.

Hope that you and yours are all well.

Hi Jenny,

This is what my  husband says "its not natural to spey a male dog", although all our cats have been fixed male and female, he wants to breed the dog, but I couldn't imagine anything worse than a dog giving birth, I'd probably go into panic control, even though we have a vet that lives next door.

Then you have to find homes for them all and I know what I'm like and my daughter, it would be "lets keep them", daughter "I'll look after them and walk them".  That's what she said about the four cats we've got and who's been lumbered with them - ME!!!

Do you ever watch the Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan he says that dogs piddle because they are marking their territory, our dog is at least 3 now and he still does it, we leave the back door open all night long even when its blowing a gale and pouring with rain so he can get out, but no, he'd rather pee on the table legs, the laundry basket or anything else that's been left on the floor.

So your daughters are on piddle control, lucky you, if I even suggested that to my daughter she'd give me such a look I wouldn't know where to put myself.

So far I've knitted a dress, bootees and a bonnet all in pink, a pair of white bootees, mittens and bonnet, a green cot blanket (which I might not send as when I made it I didn't know the sex of the baby), I've also knitted a few other pairs of multi coloured bootees and am know working on a jumper, as long as I can get through a 50g ball a day I'm happy, but I do wish I could do a bit more.

Now I have to go out and buy ribbons and buttons.

I rang Wendy at the wool shop and she said she is taking in a new intake on the first Friday in September, its $80 for 4 lessons and she assures me I will be able to crochet like a pro after that, I would want to, I think $80 is a bit excessive, plus you have to bring your own hook and wool.

What are you working on at the moment?

I hope your weather is still good, my Mum is up in Queensland for a month and I noticed it is 24 degrees C and down here its 11 degrees C.

I'm actually sitting here in my coat and scarf as this morning, don't ask me how I blew up the heater so badly the plug has fused to the plug board and all this stinky smoke poured out.

Of course I got a big lecture for my troubles, but he's fixing it as we speak, I nearly did the washing machine a mischief the other day, so I am going to have to be more careful.

Lovely to hear from you.

Knit in peace and harmony.

Hi I have just registered. I live in the West Midlands UK. I volunteer for my Social Landlord. My friend and I formed a craft club 14 months ago. Our group consists of mostly older ladies and gentlemen. We are not experts by any means but we have water colours, knitting, crocheting and sketching. It is so satisfying when someone who has been ill and lost confidence starts to interact with everyone. We do knitted blankets, for preemie babies bobble hats, bootees and jackets. We also knit teddies, beanie dolls etc. each with its own little bag. These are given to the Salvation Army who send them wherever they are most needed. I have been trying to find a knitting pattern for a mans jumper with a fish motif. One of our crafters wants to knit for her fisherman son-in-law. Would be great if someone can help with this. Regards Alecto
